Diamonds Earrings Biography
Diamonds truly are forever – this rare gift of the earth has been cherished through history since ancient civilizations.  Egyptians had fine taste when it came to jewelry; they were the first to create hoop earrings.  Babylonians, Assyrians, and Romans were all experts in fine jewelry crafting.   Around the 18th or 19th century, polishing tools had improved and the process of jewelry making improved dramatically,  making jewelry more accessible and more finely detailed than ever before.
While to today’s standards ancient jewelry is primitive to the distinguished tastes and detail of modern times, as well as all of the modern tools for jewelry crafting,  diamonds are just as popular for all assortments of jewelry and adornment like necklaces, bracelets, rings, and of course, earrings.
Diamond earrings can come in a number of styles and settings and are worn by both men and women. Likely the most popular style of diamond earring worn by both genders is the “Stud” which is a simple setting typically made of Gold or Platinum with a fine diamond solitaire at the edge.  Diamonds come in all shapes, sizes, cuts, and styles in Stud earrings, so it’s really a matter of personal taste.
Hook earrings are another popular style, one example being the image above.  Hooks are typically worn by women and feature one, or many diamonds.  Again, the style, cuts, colors, and shape all depend on personal tastes and fine craftsmanship of the jeweler.   Set with any precious jewels, gems, and materials like emeralds, rubies, sapphires, gold, silver, pearl, and diamonds, earrings are one of the most noticeable  adornments, adding a glittering sophistication and luxury to almost any look.
The quality of the diamond is usually judged by the 4 “C”s of diamonds: carat, clarity, color and cut.  I will explain all of these with more detail in a future post.
